Jaisalmer

'Oasis in the dessert' this is how I will explain Jaisalmer (well there is literally an Oasis 20-30kms away from Jaisalmer). Also known as 'Golden City', not far from the Pakistan border, Jaisalmer was one of the most important towns during Silk route era. Kings of Jaisalmer made their wealth by collecting taxes from all the merchants who were travelling via Silk route. As the importance of Silk route reduced with the modern trade Jaisalmer also lost its importance. In the recent times, it got back into limelight due to tourism. Jaisalmer fort, beautiful sand dunes, infinite wind mills and of course sunset is something one should never miss.
